Simms and M'Intyre, London and Belfast

This publishing house was founded in 1790 in Belfast. It was one of the earliest companies that specialized in cheap editions. By the time that this firm published the Abbott books, the imprint stated London, Paternoster Row as well as Donegal Street in Belfast.

This firm printed several "Jacob Abbott Histories for the Young" in 1850. A number of other Abbott histores were noted as "coming soon" in an 1850 ad. It is unclear whether they were published or not.

Two formats were published. One cost sixpence and were published in boards with ornamental cloth. The other cost one shilling and were cloth lettered.
