F. M. Lupton Publishing Company

The F. M. Lupton Publishing Company was one of a myriad of houses that published reprints of older works in a multitude of series. These series were distinguished generally by nice decorative bindings.

In 1902 Frank Lupton declared that there was confusion because there were two companies using the same name. One was the F. M. Lupton Publishing Company and the other was F. M. Lupton, publisher. The F. M. Lupton Publishing Company became the Federal Book Company whereas F. M. Lupton, publisher stayed in business to mainly publish magazines and periodicals. The Federal Book Company published some of the series of its Lupton predecessor.

Here are the six Lupton series that included some of the Abbott biographies. Note that Josephine and Marie Antoinette were actually written by John S. C. Abbott not Jacob Abbott.

This multivolume series of reprints was only published in 1897.
