Duties of Parents- 1834

Jacob Abbott delivered a lecture in Boston in August, 1834 before the American Institute of Instruction entitled: The Duties of Parents, in Regards to the Schools Where Their Children are Instructed.

The American Institute of Instruction was founded in 1830. Its object was " to diffuse useful knowledge in regard to education".

This lecture was published as a sixteen page monograph in 1834 by Tuttle and Weeks, Boston in 1834.

It was reprinted in its entirety as chapter IV in "The Introductory Discourses and the Lectures Delivered Before the American Institute of instruction" in August, 1834. This book was published in 1835 by Carter, Hendee and Co., Boston.

I am unaware of any other publications of this lecture.

Editions:

1. 1834 Duties of Parents Tuttle and Weeks, Boston

2. "The Introductory Discourses and the Lectures Delivered Before the American Institute". Carter, Hendee and Co., Boston 1835

"Duties" is Lecture III. Of interest, as is noted below, in the contents Abbott's lecture is listed as "Lecture IV". There is a numbering error however in the table of contents such that there is no Lecture number II. So Abbott's lecture is listed as No. IV in the contents but as No. III in the body of the book.
