Bible Class Book: Designed for Bible Classes, Sabbath Schools and Families

This little monograph was written by Jacob Abbott and N.W. (Nathan Welby) Fiske. Both Fiske and Abbott were professors at Amherst College when this book was written.

This book is apparently number one of two. This book is also noted to be Scripture History.

A number two published the following year was reported to be named Scripture Duties. No information is available about the latter book. I am aware of a Hawaiian translation of the Bible Class Book, Book II which appears to be Scripture Duties. This translation is dated 1839 and was done by Samuel Whitney in an edition of 500. It is 12 mo. And 35 pages.

A Bible Class Book, Book III was published in 1840. It is unclear what the original text was. This 40 page book had a 500 volume print run.

Here is the print history of the Bible Class Book

1828 A 23 page version was published by J. S. and C. Adams, a Boston publisher.

1829 T. R. Marvin for the Massachusetts Sabbath School Union. 35 pages. (This publisher printed both the second and third editions in 1829)

1834 A Hawaiian translation of this book was published by Lahainaluna. This was translated by Lorrin Andrews in an edition of 200. It is 61 pages and 8 vo.
